Christmas is the festival of Gifting! When a lot of brands were talking of cheer and simple 'you wish and we fulfil' campaigns, we contemplated something a little more fun!
As children we always remember the amazing gifts that Santa used to bring for all of us. But if slightly get under the skin, the wait for Santa used to be a never-ending one with children staying up late to try and Spot Santa when he came gifting. We took this insight to create situations digitally, where consumers are trying to “spot” the Santa first and then stand a chance to win.
The obvious question was, how can we make users “spot” the “Vistara Santa”? A few days prior to us announcing the campaign Facebook 360° video was formally launched in India. We immediately decided to use this amazing feature to bring alive this campaign.
Using the 360° creative posts became an instant hit. It was a new feature and honestly, the first by any Indian Civil Aviation player. We got a lot of participation as the simple task of looking out for Santa's cap in these 360° was engaging enough and brought a unique element of gamification to the digital campaigns around in the season.
We were initially not too certain of an overwhelming response considering the fact that a majority of our connected users are a little unsure about engaging with new innovative features. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the sheer volume of participation of the consumers. We received over 2K entries, making the Vistara Spot Santa campaign a resounding success.
Proof that interactive is always more engaging besides being a lot more fun.
